Christ the Redeemer (Portuguese: Cristo Redentor) is a statue Art Deco representative Jesus Christ. The statue is placed on top of the Corcovado mountain, which rises to 700 m s.l.m. overlooking the city and the bay of Rio de Janeiro. It is 38 meters high, of which 8 meters are part of the base.
The statue, made of concrete and soapstone stone and built between 1922 and 1931, is a symbol of the city and Brazil and represents Christ the Redeemer of humanity. It was added in 2007 among the seven wonders of the modern world.
